Ilboru Safari Lodge

Ilboru Safari Lodge is a simple, locally-owned property which we tend to use pre or post safaris in northern Tanzania when we’re trying to keep the costs down. It offers a warm welcome and a clean and comfortable stay.

This is a simple lodge, in quite a bustling residential setting on the outskirts of Arusha. It’s not trying to be fancy, and doesn’t offer luxury, but rather simple comforts, friendly hospitality and the opportunity to relax and unwind, perhaps on arrival in northern Tanzania before you start a safari or a Kilimanjaro climb.

The lodge is set in five acres of beautiful gardens with a very large outdoor pool. Massage and reiki treatments are popular with climbers.

The rooms are in rondavels (round cottages) – two rooms per building. They are simple but adequate.

There are certainly better places to stay, but if you just want somewhere that’s quite reliably clean and comfy for a good price, Ilboru is a good choice.

Ilboru Safari Lodge rooms

There are 48 en-suite rooms – singles, doubles, twins and family rooms.

Four of the rooms are in the main building and 34 are in the beautiful gardens in thatched rondavels, two rooms to each cottage.

They are simple yet clean and comfortable and each has a private veranda.

Twiga the giraffe likes this because…

“Ilboru Safari Lodge is the main sponsor for The Environmental Warriors of Ilboru village who are passionate about re-planting trees in local deforested areas. They have established a tree nursery with 4,500 seedlings and guests are welcome to visit the nursery and lend a hand.”

And don’t forget … for every booking we get, Tanzania Specialists plants trees in deforested areas of Africa through The Travel Forest, and we back The Tribes Foundation’s conservation and social projects.
