Rivertrees Country Inn
Unpretentious, with good home-cooked food and comfortable rooms, this relaxed country inn makes a good start or end to your time on safari as it’s only 40 minutes’ drive from Kilimanjaro Airport.
Rivertrees Country Inn was once a prosperous coffee plantation, with links to the Trappe family. The inn grew organically; the owners designed and created each cottage with individual care and attention, and today the cottages offer a unique and colourful blend of peace and tranquillity.
It stands in a grove of mature trees and has a small river running past the property which means the shrubs grass and trees are always well-nourished, providing a haven for bird and mammal life throughout the year.
The focus of the inn is the large lounge-restaurant area with a huge vaulted roof which offers a pleasing cool environment where you can relax, enjoy freshly-prepared, home-cooked meals (including excellent pizzas from their woodburning stove) or just sit in one of the many nooks with a good book. Its restaurant is well-liked by Arusha residents too.
The outdoor space complements the main building with a paved seating area where breakfast is usually served under the shade of the enormous canopy of trees.
