Mount Meru Game Lodge

Mount Meru Lodge is quite simply colonial.  Although it has received several  refurbishments over the decades it has remains essentially old fashioned and quintessentially English.

Nestled amongst a grove of enormous Mango trees in the Usa River area of Arusha, the terrace enjoys wonderful views over mature and carefully tended gardens and you can see the sanctuary beyond.  This area offers an outdoor patio and dining area perfect for sundowners and breakfast.

Inside, the bar area has a large arch which connects to the lounge which has large comfortable sofas and chairs old fashioned Persian style rugs and a lovely open fire.

Much of the fresh produce such as vegetables and salads are grown at the lodge.  The meals are served to your table and depending upon your choice, you can select from the al a carte or special of the day menu.  Meals are home cooked and usually plenty of it.

Why GO
We think Mount Meru is a super place for families arriving at Kilimanjaro needing to relax for a day or two before going off on a safari adventure.  There is plenty to do at Mount Meru and especially for the smaller people.

Seeing zebra, eland and ostrich and many different large birds at close quarters is both educational and exciting for the younger generation.  There are also native colobus & blue monkeys which leap from tree to tree, be warned they often drop things on your head.
