Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp

Lovely views over Lake Manyara, rustic African design, pretty gardens and an outdoor pool are all good reasons to stay here. Easily reached from Arusha, this is a good place to unwind on a busy northern circuit safari.

Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp is at the top of a 600 metre escarpment above the northern tip of the lake. The panoramic views are superb and can be enjoyed from your private deck as well as from the communal areas. It’s evident that much care has gone into the creation and upkeep of the property, from the beautifully tended gardens to the thoughtfully placed toiletries and the sparkling swimming pool, floodlit at night, to the tasty cuisine.

Accommodation is a mix of tents and cottages, all with a distinctly African feel. Wooden beams, door frames and furniture are polished to emphases their grain and tactile, smooth shapes, and patterned rugs, curtains and throws add a vibrancy. There’s a sofa where you can enjoy a freshly made tea or coffee in air conditioned comfort or stroll out to your balcony to take in the far reaching views. Bathrooms combine unusual design features and modern fittings, echoing the quirky and fun feel of the bedrooms. With a range of room sizes including a two-bedroomed family room and a spacious and secluded honeymoon tent, you should find your perfect match.

The main lodge is a large, thatched building, open-fronted facing the garden, valley and lake. There’s ample space in which to lounge between safaris, enjoy a cocktail and some pleasant conversation at the bar and watch sporting events on the TV. Eserian restaurant has a buffet station and individual tables where you can savour Asian and continental cuisine as well as African dishes, and leads out to a terrace.

Lake Manyara National Park is about a 15 minute drive away for wildlife viewing and Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp is easy to reach, just a two hour drive or 30 minute from Arusha.
