Konokono Zanzibar Beach Resort

Konokono is perched on the cliff-top and offers panoramic views of Michamvi bay. This really is barefoot luxury, imagine your own private villa with plunge pool and garden area all to yourself. Sit back and immerse yourself in this little corner of paradise.

Laidback and peaceful, Konokono offers the discerning traveller a personal island haven. The spacious guest villas are arranged within five hectares of lush surroundings and have lovely extra touches to ensure you have a magical stay.

As well as your own plunge pool at your villa, you can also enjoy the infinity pool which overlooks the sandy beach.  For light lunches of grilled fish and a snack selection the beach bar offers the perfect place, on the resort’s private beach. The restaurant, which has magnificent bay views, is the place to enjoy cocktails as the sun sets and watch the star filled sky as you dine on exquisite fare filled with local flavours and an international twist. Meals are usually buffet style though a la carte is available too.

If all that wasn’t enough to get you in relaxed mode, then take a stroll over to the Jungle Spa and indulge in pampering treatments delivered using divine products.

Compared to beaches in Zanzibar, this one is fairly deserted and is perfect for taking a long walk with the sea on one side and tropical forest on the other. Return to the resort for a refreshing dip and an ice cold drink.  Later,  after a hard day of chilling out – head back to the comfort and privacy of your own villa which staff will have serviced while you were out at dinner.

Times to Go

The hottest months are September to April. There are short rains in November, but these have little overall impact. The main rains occur in April and May.

Konokono Zanzibar Beach Resort

Konokono Beach resort offers guests spacious, well designed villas as their home from home on the island. The decor throughout is modern, light and stylish. Rather than going overboard, things are kept simple and elegant.

Beach Pavillion

These brand new rooms are right on the beach, step out onto the sand and walk out to the ocean. Each one covers an impressive 60sqm. Inside you have a king size bed draped with a mosquito net, and the en-suite bathroom houses a shower, toilet and double basins. There’s an indoor seating area and also the outside patio has comfy chairs. For your comfort you have a minibar, air conditioning, ceiling fans and a tea and coffee tray.

Sea View Villas

These villas overlook Chwaka Bay. Each villa is 85sqm with an additional 50sqm patio where you’ll find your own private plunge pool.  Indoors, as well as a king size bed you have a living room area with TV, minibar, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Wi-Fi is available though this can be a bit patchy the further away you are from the main area.

Garden View Villas

These are the same size as the sea view villas with all the same facilities. Your location is the only thing that differs as you are immersed in the peaceful setting of the resort’s lush gardens, complete with resident wildlife and birds.

Family Villa

Perfect for a family stay, this villa offers space and privacy for two adults and two children. It’s the same size as the Garden and Sea View Villas and once again has the same facilities, though you have less lounge space due to accommodating the two single beds. Out on your patio, nestled in the gardens is the plunge pool and sun loungers.

Two-bedroom Sea View Villa

This villa overlooks Chwaka Bay. It has a main bedroom with a king size bed and a smaller second bedroom with twin beds. Perfect for a family wanting more privacy. It’s larger than the family villa at 100sqm with a 60sqm patio area and amazing ocean views. The rooms share a large bathroom with two basins, separate toilet and a shower.
